Jake Castro has always had a love for all kinds of music thanks to his parents. His dad always has music playing at home or in the car and Jake would sing along. Jake bought his first guitar at the age of 6 and began taking lessons. Soon he was performing in the Bradenton, Fla. area. His mom was his support team, roadie and gentle critic. At age 9 he met booking agent Cyndee Boelkins and country music star Jeff Cook of Alabama. A few months after this meeting Jake was asked to perform with Jeff Cook's band The AGB. That is when everything changed. Through that performance he acquired two band members and they started playing locally. Among their gigs were The Mahaffey Theatre, The Florida Strawberry Festival, The St. Pete Beach Summer Concert Series and several other festivals. Jake has also performed at Tootsie's in Nashville and Vamp'd in Las Vegas. Jake is home schooled and now in the 11th grade. He spends his days practicing his music skills and evenings doing school work and occasionally playing out when time permits. He is also studying music theory with Mr. Byron Fry. Jake has been fortunate to have had several mentors who recognized his special talent. That list includes Jeff Cook of Alabama, Larry Hanson (Righteous Bros. and Alabama), Link Detten, (Joe Diffie, Restless Heart),George Dickinson (Hotel California), Byron Fry (Hotel California) and Tim Conway (Jake's drummer). Each of them have been instrumental in furthering Jake's dream to be a great musician who makes his living doing the thing he loves-
Tim Conway is everything you could want in a band member. He has been with The Jake Castro Band since the first day of it's existence. He is a professional touring drummer and recording studio musician. He and Jake clicked immediately on the first day and it is like one knows what the other is thinking and on stage it shows. Tim has been performing since he was 12 years old. His first professional gig was with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. His gig list includes Joan Jett, The Drifters, The Bellamy Brothers, Bertie Higgins, Marty Balin (The Jefferson Airplane) just to name a few. He is also a studio musician and has recorded at Sun Studios Memphis, Abbey Road in London (3 times) and Ocean Way Nashville.Tim is the heartbeat of The Jake Castro Band who is not only an awesome musician and friend but is now a part of the family.
Bassist Gregg Germony is the newest addition to the band. He began his musical career in Buffalo, New York, which served as his base while performing road gigs throughout the U.S. And Canada. Gregg has also toured Europe, Asia and the Middle East with the Horning Brothers via the D.O.D. After moving to Nashville, Gregg established himself as a highly respected studio musician and has appeared on 1000’s of demos and jingles. Additionally, he has recorded with Billy Burks and John Heinrich and played on many gospel sessions at Gene Breden’s studio.
